How To Access M-TIBA On Your Phone

1. Dial *253# (Safaricom, Airtel,Telkom on the number registered on MTIBA).
2. Enter M-TIBA Pin (Press 1 if you have forgotten your pin).
3. Press 1 - To intiate a treatment.
4. Select Recent Clinic or Enter the Till Number of the facility.
5. Select Patient to be treated.
6. Select payment method.
7. Select your AAR or Corporate scheme and then either Outpatient/ Dental/ Optical as payment method.
8. Press 1 to authorize.

You will receive an in-app message and SMS with the transaction number.

M-TIBA is a platform that allows you to access your medical scheme. M-TIBA is accessed by dialing *253# from your mobile phone.

  • M-TIBA allows you to access your medical benefit on your phone.
  • M-TIBA allows you to control the medical benefit from your phone via a PIN and initiating treatments from your phone.
  • The member gets an SMS notification after very utilization.
  • The member can view benefit balances on the M-TIBA menu via their phone.
  • The member can view his/her dependents eligible to be treated on the benefit on their phone.
  • Your utilization is real-time, and the balances are adjusted after every treatment.

Your fingerprint data will be captured during your first visit to the provider. Any subsequent visit will only be for verification purpose.

  • Dial *253# (Both Safaricom, Airtel and Telkom on the number registered on MTIBA)
  • Enter M-TIBA PIN (or press 1 if you have forgotten your PIN)
  • Press 1 to initiate a treatment
  • Select recent clinic (1, 2, 3) or enter Till Number of clinic you?re visiting (e.g. 465004)
  • Select patient to be treated
  • Select payment method
  • Select benefit either Outpatient/Dental/Optical as payment method
  • Press 1 to Authorize

You will receive an in-app message and a SMS with a transaction number.

Yes, you will be required to verify your treatment by scanning your fingerprint at the provider of choice. The verification process is required before a treatment can begin.

The limit is set to per category of the cover. If this amount has been exhausted, you can pay the difference in cash.

You will receive an SMS notification when you have opened your AAR benefit before getting treated, and another SMS when the healthcare facility has billed your specific benefit. The SMS sent after your benefit has been billed will indicate the cost of the services including medication.

Your dependents will be attended to through any of these steps:

  • M-TIBA is not accessible out of the country or on roaming service.
  • Your dependent can access the AAR benefit by dialing *253# on their registered phone number and following the menu prompts to open the treatment. Your spouse?s phone number should be setup to access the benefit.
  • You can also authorize his/her treatment from where you are, as long as they provide the clinic till number which is required to open a treatment.
  • In case your dependent does not have a phone number; your dependent can also go to the facility and provide the (primary member's) phone number. The dependent will be verified using fingerprints. Upon verification, the facility will proceed to open a treatment on the M-TIBA portal using the primary members phone number and offer the required services. The primary member will receive an SMS notification once the transaction is completed.
  • Dial *253#
  • Enter your M-TIBA PIN (or press 1 if you have forgotten your PIN)
  • Select option 2: "My M-TIBA"
  • Select AAR benefit
  • The balance will be displayed against each category i.e. Outpatient/Dental/Optical

If you can access your benefit, you can change it as follows;

  • Step 1 - Dial *253#
  • Step 2 - Enter M-TIBA PIN
  • Step 3 - Select Option 9: "Settings"
  • Step 4 - Select Option 1: "Change PIN"
  • Step 5 - Enter Current PIN
  • Step 6 - Enter New PIN
  • Step 7 - Confirm New PIN

You will receive an SMS notification confirming PIN change "Your PIN has been changed".

If you have forgotten your PIN, you can reset it as follows:

  • Dial *253#
  • press 1 if you have forgotten your PIN
  • Enter date of Birth e.g. DDMMYYYY (01011963)
  • Enter ID/Passport number
  • Enter new PIN
  • Confirm new PIN
  • Your PIN has been changed

You will receive an SMS notification confirming PIN change "Your PIN has been changed". You can also contact the AAR customer service for PIN reset on 0709 701000 or 0730655000.
